Saw a Therapist yesterday,,,,, interesting
by man in black ini da'ed myself two years ago, one of the main reasons was because my mother died and the congregation was more interested in"meeting attendance, and service" than anything else.
for the first time in 30 years the very conditional friendship offered by the jehovahs witnesses came to the fore, and i was literally blindsided by it.. several months later i attended a grief support group at our local hospital, and boy it was a real godsend for me, i realised that the so called "worldly people' could actually be nice, supportive, and lend a real listening ear.
the hospital had one of their grief support counselors lead the meeting, and she was really good at what she does.

what is best to use to help my kids out? What does a teenager need to hear?
by Aussie Oz innow that i have secured more time with my children and i have established my interest in the religious side of their lives i wonder what is best next.. what sort of material is best to use to get them thinking?
i want to get them thinking.. what sort of real truths matter to teens in the jws these days?.
i know that they dont beleive everything, such as shunning and that worldly people are all bad.

My kids are 24, 21, and 15.
15 year old- Social life, making spending money, staying fit, starting to think about college and what she wants to do for a career.
21 year old- Friends, culinary arts training, future full-time job
24 year old- In college to become an elementary school teacher, friends, part-time job to make money for living expenses.
These are the priorities of my children. The older 2 also have spiritual beliefs and church and living right are important to them. They stay clear of going down a "bad" path. They like to hang out with friends that feel the same way.
The 15 year old is more concerned about NOW. Her social life TODAY. What are her plans for TONIGHT. It's harder for her to look beyond today or next week.

Would you tell your JW coworker you used to be a JW
by serendipity ini've realized a new employee is a jw, because he likes to leave jw literature on his desk and because he mentioned "congregation responsibilities".
i am debating whether to tell him of my jw past.. the main reason for considering this is because i had mentioned to another coworker "g" that i was raised as a jw, before the jw's arrival.
if the jw tries to witness to "g", "g" might reveal that fact.

I didn't even tell my husband that I had been raised a JW until after we were married 2 years, pregnant with our first child and on the way to my Grandmother's JW funeral. LOL! So I certainly wouldn't tell a co-worker. I have too many negative feelings about the cult. I know for me it would create problems for a JW co-worker to know that I had been raised one. Better for me to stay totally neutral.

After reading more, I would never tell him that you were raised JW. I would also ask the co-worker that knows to please not reveal that . I think you would be opening up a can of worms.

My initial reaction is never. I suppose after I got to know this person well, it might be something that I would tell them but it would be very unlikely. If I felt that they were struggling with their beliefs I would talk to them but I wouldn't necessarily admit that I had any personal knowledge of JWs.

i told him my whole story about leaving the jw's after 44 yrs and just wanting peace and freedom .

When my father died the PO and his wife came to my mother's house. My father had not attended a meeting in about a year and I don't know to this day how they knew that my father had died or what their purpose was in coming to the door. It's possible that a neighbor called them thinking they were doing a good deed in letting our "minister" know about my father's death.
I saw them coming and went outside . I did not even allow them to get to the front steps. I told them to leave and never, ever come back to our house. As far as I know, they never did. Also, as far as I know, my mother was never DA'd. I know at her Memorial Gathering, her JW siblings were there and her brother-in-law spoke a few sentences and said that they hoped to see her again on earth.
My father's death was a long time ago. Maybe things have changed now. But in my emotional state, I was probably downright scary when I told them to leave and get off our property and never return. But I never saw them again. I pretty much let out a lot of grief, anger and hatred on them. But it worked. There was no question of my stand.

Randall Watters: My Return to Christianity: The Early Years (part 3)
by Dogpatch inokay gang, warning!.
this is going to sound real new-christian preachy to some of you, but hey, this was 1982ish, so don't come down too hard on me.
i just tend to put all i got into my work, but i've mellowed out (called "getting older").. i am not a fan of churches or institutions personally; more of a loner.

Here is the Letter I am thinking of sending ,give me your input
by troubled mind inattention to the elder body of the *******congregation of jehovahs witnesses .
criminal harassment is defined as "engag(ing) in intentional conduct which the actor [harasser] knows or has reason to know would cause the victim, under the circumstances, to feel frightened, threatened, oppressed, persecuted, or intimidated; and causes this reaction on the part of the victim.

The Significance of Raymond Victor Franz
by AllTimeJeff inthe significance of raymond franz.
in the light of the passing of raymond franz this week, it is clear from the reaction that many were affected by the deeds of this man.
while he was called gentle by those who knew him (for the record, i never got to meet him personally) his reputation preceded him both in the ex jehovah's witness community, and still to this day at the world headquarters of jehovah's witnesses.. while his writings were indeed fair and reasonable, (i challenge anyone to read his books and find bitterness associated with him toward his former peers) i think it would be a mistake to remember ray franz as somewhat of a gentle, doting old man.
